FOR COLLEGE ADVISORS:  HELP YOUR STUDENTS SHINE!  HOW TO DEAL WITH TEST STRESS AND PERFORMANCE ANXIETY

“Ben Bernstein is a terrific resource for educational consultants as they work with students who have test anxiety or performance issues.  His presentation style is dynamic and his knowledge about how to help struggling teens vast.  One hour with Ben will inspire you to rethink your client intake form and increase your awareness of how to solve this growing problem among today’s students.”

Gael Casner,  College Advisor  (www.collegefind.com).  Past President: HECA. Member: NACAC, WACAC, HECA

In June 2015 Dr. Bernstein was invited to speak at the national HECA conference in Cincinnati, on “Success on Tests and Test Anxiety.”  The response to Dr. B’s talk was highly positive. One participant said ‘Best talk I ever heard at a HECA conference!”  Dr. B spoke about what College Advisors can do when one of their students has test stress and/or performance anxiety, and what the Advisor can’t do for the student and which the student must do for him/herself:  to learn to operate in in the stressful test environment to produce optimal results. The “test environment” includes studying for tests, classroom participation, and on the test itself. Dr. B’s original training model (articulated in Test Success!) has helped many students internationally over the last thirty-five years.

The work of the College Advisor is very important, necessary and quite challenging. College Advisors are like master gardeners with a precious plant and have to decide where to place it and how to nourish it. Having a successful way of dealing with test stress and test anxiety is learning how to deal with invasive weeds, they must not be allowed to grow and must be dealt with at the source.
